What we make
Gears and Gear Related Products
Nine product families, cut to your print and inspected before they leave the building.
Bevel and Mitre Gears
Bevel and miter gears up to 24" diameter, cut on Gleason generating equipment and inspected on calibrated Gleason checkers.
Helical Gears
Helical gears to 16" diameter x 36" face, generated and inspected against lead and profile on calibrated Fellows equipment.
Rack and Pinion
Custom rack and pinion sets cut in cast iron and steel for machine tool, transit and material handling applications.
Ratchets and Jaw Clutches
Ratchets to 30" diameter and jaw clutches to 24" diameter, cut on Whiton milling equipment with face gear attachments.
Splines
Internal and external involute and straight-sided splines in American National Standard, metric DIN and SAE serration forms.
Sprockets
Custom sprockets up to 36" diameter and 2" pitch, cut to print for conveyor, transit and heavy industrial drives.
Spur Gears
Spur gears up to 36" diameter x 36" face, from 96 D.P. to 2 D.P., hobbed and shaped to your print.
Timing/Gear Belt Pulleys
Timing and gear belt pulleys cut to your print for indexing, positioning and synchronous drive applications.
Worm Gears
Worm gears up to 16" diameter, plus worms and lead screws to 12" diameter in any lead, hobbed and thread milled.
Why choose us
Built on precision, proven over generations
The reasons customers keep coming back — and send us the parts nobody else can make.
Made to your print
Every part is cut to your drawing, not to a catalog. Tooth form, pitch and material are what you specify — we don't approximate a dimension the drawing defines.
Verified quality
We inspect profile, lead and composite error on calibrated instruments, to the AGMA Inspection Manual 2000-A88. Quality is measured, not assumed.
Deep experience
Over 120 years of combined industry experience across the shop, some machinists with more than 30 years on the equipment.
Prototype to production
A single prototype, a short run or a repeating production order — quoted and cut on the same equipment, so quality carries across the volume.
We solve hard problems
Obsolete parts reverse-engineered from a sample, legacy drawings reproduced, and problem gears troubleshot — including parts made elsewhere.
On-time delivery
A perfect part that arrives late has failed the job. Expedient delivery is built into how the shop is run.

Inspection floor
Quality criteria
Measured, not assumed
Every part is verified against your drawing before it leaves the building. Here is what that means in practice.
AGMA-based inspection
Our quality program is based on the AGMA Inspection Manual 2000-A88.
Calibrated instruments
Profile, lead and composite error measured on ITW, Fellows, Gleason and Brown & Sharpe equipment.
AGMA member company
A member company of the American Gear Manufacturers Association.
Verified against your drawing
The tooth form is confirmed against the supplied print before the part ships.

AGMA Member Company
Certifications & standards
Credentials our customers can count on
- AGMA Member Company — Commercial Gear & Sprocket is a member company of the AGMA, the standards body for the gear industry.
- AGMA Inspection Manual 2000-A88 — Our Quality Control Department bases its inspection on AGMA Inspection Manual 2000-A88.
Precision you can prove
Every part inspected before it leaves the building
AGMA-based inspection on calibrated instruments — because a gear you can’t verify is a gamble you shouldn’t have to take.
